TACE IX provides technical assistance and continuing education activities in a variety of methods and formats. We utilize one and two-day workshops, and meetings, monthly and/or quarterly semester activities, as well as, distance methods to provide content materials to State VR Agency personnel and community partners. The following list represents a sample of topics areas:

 

Quality Management / Service Delivery

Improving the quality of employment outcomes for all consumers, including employment rate, wage level and accurate record of successful closures.

Examples are participating in Strategic Planning Meetings, implementing systems that will accelerate the capability to manage data, and addressing quality management and service delivery for VR partners.

 

Monitoring Procedures and Performance Goals

Developing and implementing internal and external monitoring procedures and performance goals for VR and contractors to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of vocational rehabilitation services delivery.

Examples are analyzing data to review CRP accountability, telephone calls with administrators and appropriate staff to implement strategies to address this need and establish protocols and address QA processes internal and external, including revisions to inter-local agreements.

 

Staff Development, Leadership and Succession Planning

Improve recruitment, development, and retention of qualified staff to insure effective vocational rehabilitation service delivery and performance.

Examples include planning and training development related to policy development, staff communication, team building, planning and continuance of the leadership development series for program managers and section chiefs, and assist administrative staff in the establishment of projects throughout the states.  Regional meetings will also occur, including the Academy for Rehabilitation Supervisors (ARS) and Summer Seminars, distance methods (tele-conferencing, video-conferencing, online learning) are utilized as well. Staff will also be encouraged to review the eRehab Online Training Series.

Organizational Development

Develop a strategic planning approach that includes development and incorporation of targets and measures that focus on using performance data for program improvement.

Examples are assisting in the development of State Plan efforts to utilize a quantitative approach to performance targets, redevelop the organization and improve communication and services, utilizing the SRC-Online Training Series with VR and SRC to illustrate content areas, facilitating discussions with VR management staff and SRC members as requested and utilizing the RSA model (when available) for conducting the comprehensive statewide needs assessment.

 

Resources in Constituency Systems and Communities

Enhancing partnerships with SRC, SILC, ILCs, CRPs, CAPs, TVR, other community agencies and business and industry.

Examples are activities which are specific to state and locations (urban, rural) will be addressed in discussions with VR to maximize resources including partnerships with all constituents, promising practices will be identified and shared with VR staff, continuing partnership development with VR to engage the CRPs, CAP, SILC and SRC in efforts to expand collaboration, and sessions on maximizing resources to VR partners will be offered as well.

 

Fiscal Management

Effective fiscal case management and reporting methods that can adequately identify the costs of VR services and be integrated into planning and policy development.  This will include telephone discussions, on-site and distance methods to examine fiscal management functions within each organization. Additional resources on promising practices will be shared with all constituents.

Examples are focusing on SRC involvement with fiscal data for State Plan development, offering on-site and regional trainings (Summer Seminar, RSA Fiscal Conferences) in support of RSA fiscal management information, and fiscal management sessions will also be offered.
