Core Area 3:
Work Force Education and Entrepreneurship

Description

Core Area 3 focuses on two topics: Workforce Education and Entrepreneurship. The first topic concentrates on the development of education and training programs for non-college bound youth and adults. Employment opportunities include positions as training specialists, instructional developers, program administrators, and instructors in community colleges, adult education programs, and job training programs. The second topic addresses the issues of entrepreneurship for people with disabilities. Interwork's relationship with the Disabled Businesspersons Associations strengthens this Area by bringing strong connections to the business community and offering expertise to people with disabilities interested in starting their own business.

Potential Participants

Administrators, managers, and supervisors of community rehabilitation programs might be interested in Core Area 3. People with disabilities interested in starting their own business and those interested in supporting their efforts will be interested in the entrepreneurship training that will be provided through this area.

Opportunities

Participate
Based on program needs, training can be delivered in a variety of formats. These include workshops, seminars, distance teaching, individualized instruction, technical assistance, simulation and train-the-trainers.

Certificate
Workforce Education and Lifelong Learning Certificate
Admission requirements include a bachelor level degree.

Graduate
Coursework in Core Area 3 may be applied toward a graduate degree in Education as an area of emphasis.
